D Die Ausstellung Archives of resistance and repair befragt Möglichkeiten einer Neubewertung historischer Dokumente und Materialien aus einer dekolonialen Perspektive. Die Arbeiten von Shiraz Bayjoo, Maeve Brennan und Onyeka Igwe benennen Orte, an welchen persönliche und öffentliche Geschichten aufeinander treffen: Mächtige Wissensregime werden dekonstruiert, in dem persönliche und verkörperte Erfahrungen in den Vordergrund gestellt und dokumentarische Materialien kritisch hinterfragt werden. Durch ihre forschungsbasierte Praxis erinnern uns die künstlerischen Arbeiten daran, dass die Zukunft nur durch einen bewussten Umgang mit unserer Vergangenheit und ihren fortbestehenden materiellen Überresten verhandelt werden kann.
Die Ausstellung ist Teil des Jahresprogramms 2021/22 von Kunstpavillon & Neue Galerie Innsbruck mit dem Leitmotiv „Dancing at the Edge of the World“. Künstlerische Leitung: Petra Poelzl
E Presenting recent works of moving-image and installation art, Archives of resistance and repair explores artistic efforts to reconsider the meaning and function of historical records from a decolonial perspective. The exhibition locates sites where personal and public histories intersect, exposing fault lines between loss and recovery, entropy and rejuvenation, as well as fact and fiction. The work of Shiraz Bayjoo, Maeve Brennan, and Onyeka Igwe deconstructs powerful knowledge regimes by confronting documentary materials with new critical methodologies that foreground intimacy and embodied experience. Through their research-based practices, the artists remind us that the future can only be negotiated through reconciliation with our past and its lingering material remnants.
