D Die Ausstellung zeigt im Lockdown 2021 neu entstandene Mail Art und dazu verfasste Texte in einer Kulisse klassischer Antiken. Abseits der gesperrten künstlerischen Werkstätten ihrer Kunsthochschule haben 27 angehende Künstler:innen am Chelsea College of Arts in London im Frühjahr 2021 kleine Kunstwerke in Form von Postkarten geschaffen. Über den Postweg gelangten diese schließlich an die Universität Innsbruck, wo sie den jungen Kunstwissenschaftlern:innen am Institut für Kunstgeschichte eine dankbare Möglichkeit für die „Arbeit am Original“, aber auch für experimentelle Annäherungen boten. Mit einem speziell für die Schau entworfenen Ausstellungsdisplay – inmitten der Gipsabgüsse des Archäologischen Museums Innsbruck – ist auch die Fakultät für Architektur an „Postcards from Isolation“ beteiligt.
E Against a backdrop of classical antiquities, the exhibition presents mail art created during the 2021 lockdown and the corresponding texts. In the spring of 2021, twenty-seven young artists of the Chelsea College of Arts in London, not able to access the locked-up studios at their art academy, created small artworks in the form of postcards. These finally reached the University of Innsbruck by post, where they offered the young scientists at the Department of Art History a welcome opportunity to „work with the original“, but also for experimental approaches. With an exhibition display, developed especially for the show and set amidst the plaster casts from the Innsbruck Archaeological Museum, the Faculty of Architecture also participates in Postcards from Isolation.
„Postcards from Isolation“ ist eine Ausstellung des Instituts für Kunstgeschichte der Universität Innsbruck und des MA Fine Art 2020/21 am Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, im Archäologischen Museum Innsbruck (Standort Universitätshauptgebäude) – unter Mitwirkung der Fakultät für Architektur der Universität Innsbruck. In Kooperation mit dem Forschungszentrum Kulturen in Kontakt.
