Jakob Kolb „Say Something“

Im Spannungsfeld von kollektiver Erinnerung, gesellschaftlicher Veränderung und ökologischem Bewusstsein entfalten sich Jakob Kolbs multidisziplinäre Arbeiten, die poetische Räume eröffnen. Durch die Verbindung von organischen und anorganischen Materialien schafft er ambivalente Raumkonzepte, die alternative Naturbegriffe und die Wechselwirkungen zwischen Mensch, Umwelt und Erinnerung künstlerisch erforschen und hinterfragen.

Jakob Kolb, geboren 1992 in der Steiermark. Nach dem abgeschlossenen Kunststudium in Barcelona studierte er 2017–2023 an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien bei Daniel Richter. Neben der Malerei, Skulptur und Installation kuratiert er auch in verschiedenen Kunsträumen (Schaumbad Graz, Vienna Contemporary 2024, Kunsthaus Weiz etc.) und ist als Musiker und Produzent unter dem Alias „On Bells“ tätig. Solo und in Gruppenausstellungen wurden seine Arbeiten zuletzt gezeigt in Räumen wie: EXILE Galerie, Kunsthalle der HFBK Dresden, Parallel Vienna.

Jakob Kolb’s multi-disciplinary works, opening up poetic spaces, are caught between the competing forces of collective memory, social change and ecological consciousness. Thanks to the combination of organic and anorganic materials the artist creates ambivalent spatial concepts that artistically explore and question alternative concepts of nature and the interaction between human, environment and memory.

Jakob Kolb was born in Styria in 1992. After completing his art studies in Barcelona, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Daniel Richter from 2017 until 2023. Besides painting, creating sculptures and installations, he also works as a curator for various exhibition spaces (Schaumbad Graz, Vienna Contemporary 2024, Kunsthaus Weiz, etc.) and as a musician and producer, using the alias On Bells. Most recently, his works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions, for instance at EXILE Galerie, Kunsthalle der HFBK Dresden, Parallel Vienna.
